This is the public Wiki for the Gravitational-wave Optical Transient Observer (GOTO) project.

The era of direct detection of gravitational waves from astronomical sources with interferometric detectors will shortly be upon us. The GOTO project is a multi-site network of telescopes to carry out follow-up observations of gravitational wave triggers, in time for the advanced array observations that are expected to begin in 2016–2017. A prototype telescope will be deployed on the Canary Island of La Palma, a premier astronomical observing site, expected by mid-2015

The project is led by the Astronomy and Astrophysics group at the University of Warwick, and the Monash Centre for Astrophysics, with the support of the Monash-Warwick Alliance
